Chapter Thirteen

Kristen paced around her apartment Sunday morning. On Saturday, Cameron had picked her up, and they had spent the day at his house. That time in his playroom, she hadn’t frozen up. She let out a laugh.

After the bliss he had given her Friday night at the Club, how could she freeze up? The man was as good of a masseur as Paul and Will were. She had been putty in his hands after that. But Cameron hadn’t taken advantage. Oh, he had tied her up and teased her with a feather and a soft rabbit flogger, but that was it.

Then they had spent the rest of Saturday afternoon kissing, caressing, and cuddling on his sofa. When she had arrived home last night, she had still been in full-bliss mode. This morning, she had woken with renewed energy.

Today, she was nervous and excited. They were going to the club in broad daylight today. What would happen if someone saw her walking into Decadence? Would they stop coming to her café? Would they start rumors? She couldn’t start her business all over again in a new town. And she didn’t have it in her to walk away from what she’d built here. But she didn’t want to give up what she had found with Cameron, either.

Her heart pounded in her chest. She hadn’t stepped a toe out of line in Grant in the four years she’d lived here. Now, she was making a big leap, but she deserved to be happy. Grant was a pretty progressive town. It had to be to allow the BDSM club, but still she worried about what people would think. How would they treat her if they found out she liked kink? Oh, stop it. She couldn’t stop what people thought or how they acted. She could only control herself.

She glanced at the clock. Cameron would be here any second, and she wasn’t sure what she was going to say to him. Would he understand her apprehension about them being seen at the club in daylight? The club was in a discreet location, but it was during the day now, and being there at night hadn’t worried her so much. Would he think she was being silly?

She paced from one end of her living room to the other, pondering Cameron’s reaction. A herd of elephants roamed around in her stomach. She should cancel. Or talk Cameron into just staying home today. But did she really want to miss this chance to attend Cameron’s class and be with him?

The doorbell made her jump. Kristen smoothed her hands down her jean-clad thighs before crossing the room. She looked out the peephole and saw Cameron. She took a deep breath and let it out before opening the door.

“Good day, Kristen.” Cameron’s whiskey-smooth voice caused her nerves to dance with anticipation.

“Come on in.” She held the door open. The faint scent of sandalwood tickled her nose as he brushed by her.

“You’re nervous,” he stated.

“Very intuitive of you.” She closed the door and leaned against it.
